What Does Root Canal Treatment Involve?
If you decide root canal treatment is right for you, our endodontist will develop your personalised treatment plan. This treatment is performed under local anesthesia, or we can offer other sedation options.
Root Canal Treatment Has 4 stages:
Removing the infection
Preparing the canals
After giving you a local anaesthetic or other sedative to numb the pain and help you relax, we'll access the infected pulp using a dental drill. We'll carefully remove all infected tissues, taking care to preserve as much of the healthy tooth as possible.
Once the infected or damaged tissues have been removed, we'll thoroughly clean and disinfect the root canals inside your teeth. We use sterilised instruments to make sure no bacteria is left behind.
Filling the canals
When the root canals have been cleared of bacteria and debris, we'll insert a synthetic rubber-like material into space. This will fill the root canals to support your healthy tooth and seal it against further infections.
Restoring your tooth
After giving you a local anaesthetic or other sedative to numb the pain and help you relax, we'll access the infected pulp using a dental drill. We'll carefully remove all infected tissues, taking care to preserve as much of the healthy tooth as possible.

Dr. Qureshi was born in Melrose Park IL and has lived his entire life in the Chicagoland area. He is the older of two brothers, and grew up in the southwest suburbs.
Dr. Qureshi attended the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and received a degree in Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. He worked for a couple years in the real estate market, then went on to get his Masters in Public Health from Benedictine University in Lisle IL then went on to University of Illinois in Chicago for his Doctorate in Dental Surgery.

Here is a short list of the precautions and procedures we have implemented to ensure your visit is as safe and worry free as possible.
- All doctors and staff wear the latest personal protective equipment. This includes face shielding, high grade masks and single use gowns, gloves, and booties. Patient eye protection is in use at all times. All surfaces are cleaned with hospital grade disinfectant wipes. All treatment rooms are thoroughly disinfected between patients.
- Aerosols are captured and suctioned during treatment to ensure they do not get into the air. Air purifiers are in continuous use.
- We are compliant with all ADA, OSHA, and state dental board regulations to ensure the safe treatment of our patients.
- Instruments that are not single use are put into an autoclave. Intense heat and pressure will ensure all instruments are fully sterilized.
- Appropriate social distancing is in place.
